Cancun is a perfect vacation getaway that offers everything from turquoise Caribbean Sea and white sand beaches to a wide range of adventure activities, Mayan ruins, intense nightlife and some of the best restaurants in the world. This world class destination is a gastronomic delight for foodies and anyone else who enjoys a delicious meal, especially those who are looking to explore Mexican cuisine or who simply appreciate fine dining.
In addition to many seafood restaurants and steakhouses visitors will delight in eateries that specialize in Mexican, Italian, Thai, Indian, French, Yucatecan and even Belgian cuisine. From oceanfront views to spectacular sunsets over the Nichupte Lagoon, resort-included options to local street fare, and well-established icons to many, new exciting options, Cancun has something for everyone looking to enjoy some food.
Making choices can be tough though so we recommend you take a look at the following fine dining options:
Arguably one of Cancun’s best and most popular restaurants, Puerto Madero is an Argentinian steakhouse located towards the center of the Cancun Hotel Zone. Modeled after the dock warehouses that have been converted into modern eateries in Argentina’s port city of the same name, this steak-and-seafood house gets rave reviews from locals. The grilled octopus seasoned with paprika is exceptional, as is the Alaskan halibut prepared with white wine, shallots, and fresh pepper and the sides of crackling soufflé potatoes (potatoes fried until they’re puffed). The restaurant is fairly big with both indoor and outdoor terrace (overlooking the lagoon) options but make sure reservations are made as these spaces fill up quickly.
This Italian fusion restaurant (Italian and Mexican Caribbean) has been open since 1989, and is loved by locals because of the very personal touch that chef Paolo Ceravolo brings to every dish and visit, as he always leaves the kitchen to greet customers and ask if they are enjoying their meal. Try the delicious linguine with lobster, angel hair pasta with seafood, specialty lasagnas, or ask for Paolo’s colorful and innovative specials that do not appear on the menu. The restaurant opens 2 PM daily and is a great setting in which to enjoy a slow glass of his great wine selection.
With so many things to do in Cancun a vacation here is sure to be unforgettable.
