Located between Playa del Carmen and Cancun, Puerto Morelos is the Riviera Maya’s most famous diving destination.
Home to one of the best protected sections of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, it provides some of the most amazing diving experiences and arguably the best snorkeling in all of Mexico.
Dive sites off Puerto Morelos are available for divers of all levels. Tourists come from all around the world to enjoy the natural beauty of the area, through catamaran sailing, paddleboarding, reef and wreck diving, and the rare chance to explore Mexico’s most famous cenotes.
The underwater landscape is quite remarkable, and teems with marine life, including hundreds of varieties of fish along with barracudas, turtles, eels, rays and occasionally a nurse shark.
Furthermore, you’ll have access to the some of the greatest cavern diving sites between Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Sea diving is available all year long with conditions being the best between March and November.
However, Puerto Morelos doesn’t entirely revolve around its underwater offerings. As the town is located at the edge of a mangrove-tangled jungle pushing up to the shore, there is ample opportunity to get involved in epic zipline tours, ATV rides, and even horseback riding on the beach!
