2 Tank Scuba Diving (departs from Puerto Vallarta)
Puerto Vallarta is one of Mexico’s top scuba diving destinations, offering a wide diversity of locations and conditions, from easy-to-get-to sites close to the mainland to more adventurous locations farther offshore.
Los Arcos is a protected national marine park famous for small, granite islands that protrude from the sea and which are visible from downtown Puerto Vallarta. Underwater you will find caves, deep tunnels, arches and a stunning reef that is home to lobster, octopus, moray eels, turtles, and many species of tropical fish.
Las Caletas is an exclusive tropical beach hideaway, where underwater coves and a nearby natural reef are home to a diverse array of marine life including colorful tropical fish, turtles, manta rays and great visibility. Good drop-offs, nice shallows, fine beaches, all in one place.
Originally made famous by Jacques Cousteau in the 1970’s, the Marietas Islands Marine Reserve has now become one of the most popular areas in Western Mexico for scuba diving. Part of an underwater mountain range that peaks above the ocean’s surface, the Marietas Islands mark the entrance to Banderas Bay from the Pacific.
El Morro lies west of the Marietas Islands on the edge of Banderas Bay and is a series of rock pinnacles extending above the surface of the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. With depths of up to 150 feet, El Morro offers wall diving, caves and a 50 foot-long tunnel, allowing experienced divers the chance to practice their technical skills in a remote location. Home to a great diversity of marine life including lobsters, turtles, octopus, sharks, sea horses, dolphins, jacks, yellowtails, sailfish and large moray eels and manta rays, trips to this spectacular dive site are only available to small groups of experienced divers.
This rock bank lies halfway between El Morro and the Marietas Islands in a relatively sheltered area at the outer limits of Banderas Bay. The bank starts at around 30 feet below the ocean’s surface and is full of caves and interesting rock formations. Tuna, jacks, giant manta rays and nurse sharks are often sighted here.
Corbeteña and El Sequial
These remote dive spots attracts all manner of sea life. A profusion of manta rays, turtles, sharks and dolphins are native to these waters, and huge schools of tuna circle this tiny island in search of food. Here experienced divers can explore caves, arches and steep walls amongst moderate currents and depths of up to 120 feet. This trip is available for private groups of 8 divers or more.
